Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager to lead a key part of our Finance organisation covering management ac-counting, treasury, tax, account payables, group reporting, statutory reporting and con-solidation activities. This role also covers the operational finance & controlling re-quirements of a 100% owned subsidiary company (dual brand). Reporting to the CFO, this role owns key external banking & statutory interfaces and Group Accounting & Reporting relationships; and is responsible for the administrative financial activities and delivering fiscal requirements of the company and its UK and Ireland legal entities. These activities must be executed in alignment with the local le-gal norms and the internal norms of the Schindler Group, to fulfil the required financial reporting obligations to internal and external stakeholders.

 

As a member of the CFO’s senior management team, this is one of the key roles facilitating the implementation and maintenance of the strategic tone of the CFO and the rest of the UKC Executive Management Team. This is a permanent and full-time role based out of our Addlestone Office in Surrey, working on a hybrid basis, visiting the Office at least 3 days a week.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safeguarding and preparation of the closing and the financial statements reflecting the true picture of the company performance; in accordance with the Financial Shared Services (FSS) / Centre of Excellence (CoE) activities and timetable
  • Accurate and timely delivery of monthly management accounts and other cycle out-comes (e.g budget submissions); on Group reporting platforms fully meeting group requirements
  • Manage and monitor the general ledger and all subledgers (including but not exclu-sive to accounts receivables, accounts payable, accruals, provisions, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany) according to the local legal need
  • Management of Structural Costs (Overheads) and ensure no gaps in recognition of appropriate and recurring costs, including but not limited to provisions and prepay-ments. Proactive liaison required with the Finance Controlling team in ensuring overheads are well managed versus budget
  • Prepare and analyse the various financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet) and information from reporting both to Group and local stakeholders as required
  • Owns and controls Investment / Capex budget and governance process
  • Fulfils all fiscal obligations regarding the safekeeping of accounting information for regulatory reasons including tax purposes; and archiving of the financial books
  • Has oversight of the Payroll, Pensions and Expenses, and their associated processes and systems
  • Manage Treasury function and processes in accordance with the local and Global Treasury Guidelines
  • Manage local bank relationships and ensure compliance with counterparty limits
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor bank conditions, ensuring best return on deposits
  • Manage the bank/insurance guarantee process, in collaboration with the Head of Commercial & Procurement
  • Oversee payment processes and ensure payment security
  • Develops adequate procedures and plan to utilise tax incentives that are transparent, published and/or endorsed by its host jurisdiction while fully complying with local tax requirements, e.g., capital Allowances, RDEC, WDA
  • Calculate (current / deferred) tax liabilities (including provisions) and report tax ac-counts adequately
  • Preparation and filing of all income and VAT/sales tax returns to meet local filing re-quirements and deadlines
  • All employees are required to work in accordance with established Company Occu-pational Health and Safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with cur-rent UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements
  • Employees must comply with Company Health & Safety requirements and set a per-sonal example of safe behaviour
  • Employees will be required to contribute to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct con-trol and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to Schindler Ltd occupa-tional health and safety management system
  • Using various platforms (PowerBI), provide key reports for business overview to key stakeholders
  • Continuously review and improve finance processes and controls
 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Passionate about leadership, influencing and establishing enterprise value that fi-nance can contribute within an organisation
  • Significant interaction with key stakeholders across the business, so strong and clear communication (verbal and written) is a must
  • The ability to manage multi-functional teams in multiple locations effectively
  • At least 7 years senior finance experience and Finance professional qualification such as CIMA or ACCA
  • Strong administrative and financial background
  • Prior experience of treasury, tax, and payroll
  • Financial controlling and financial management experience
  • Proven track record of managing multiple objectives, multi-site teams and a matrix organisation
  • Leading on internal audit requirements and supporting statutory audit needs
  • Proficient use of Excel. SAP experience and Power BI will be highly regarded.
  • Construction, Services, and related industries required whilst not essential is preferred
