We Elevate... Your Responsibilities

The purpose of this key position is to manage Health & Safety across the UK and Ireland business by leading and promoting a positive health and safety culture.  Developing, implementing and driving continual improvement “best practice” health and safety strategies and systems across the business.

 

  • Develop and implement a health and safety strategy for the business and align internal policies ensuring they are in line with Group requirements
  • Create, develop and implement annual action plan to meet targets
  • Support the business to ensure targets are achieved, producing reports and information to support the team
  • Develop all Group Safety initiatives and roll-out across the UK and Irish business
  • Ensure all reports are prepared and submitted on time
  • Establish good communication lines and actively network with the global safety community
  • Promote and ensure all incidents are recorded in the system; conduct thorough investigations leading to the identification of root causes and creation of relevant actions plans, ensuring continuous improvement
  • Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
  • Support Field Operations and Field Quality Excellence (FQE) defining safe Existing Installations/New Installations (EI/NI) operational procedures which identify and take account all relevant hazards and comply with legislation
  • Manage sub-contractors to ensure compliant with UK legislation and Schindler practices
  • Act as a business partner to relevant departments to support on all aspects of Health & Safety
  • Ensure NGFE Assessments, site inspections, Safety Walks, Observe the Observer visits and internal system audits are being carried out frequently and actions closed out
  • Responsible for managing Safety training for all Field and Staff employees
  • Ensure all relevant records and documentation and maintained, ensuring the fulfillment of any legal requirements is met
  • Provide coaching to Managers as required
  • Promote a positive culture of Safety and Health, through communication and organization of Safety Days.
  • Keep up-to-date with new and existing Health & safety legislation to ensure the UK and Irish businesses are compliant at all times.
 

We Elevate... Your Best Self

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Hold a professional Health & Safety qualification
  • Significant experience working in Health & Safety, preferably in the lift or construction industries
  • Demonstrate experience leading a safety culture
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to impact, influence, motivate and coach others
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail with excellent written and spoken English
  • Professional and effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity and emotional maturity
  • Resourceful self-starter who demonstrates leadership skills and instincts, who works well independently as well as in a team
  • Shares information and keeps stakeholders informed
