Health & Safety Advisor

 

We Elevate... Your Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to promote a positive health & safety culture and implement the health & safety strategy within Schindler UKC. As a Health & Safety Advisor you will be responsible for applying existing safety management systems, current legislation, and best practice to achieve the corporate vision and provide a support function within the Field Operations.

 

This role will be mainly site based; working within the various operating business units but you will be required to provide office-based support to ensure the maintenance and development of the company safety management procedures.

 

Your primary role will be supporting the Field Line Management in New Installation, Modernisation and Existing Installations.

  • To provide Health and Safety support to Field Operations, predominantly:

    • Southern Region (incl. London)

    • Transport divisions

    • Ireland

  • To implement the Health & Safety strategy and policy within the area of the business you work.

  • Manage compliance through behavioural safety engagements, inspections, and audits.

  • Undertake regular reviews of performance of personnel and contractors with regards to meeting the health & safety operating standards.

  • To intervene to improve performance where expectations are not being met.

  • Advise, guide and coach all personnel with the implementation of the company procedures.

  • To support the HR Department to implement future strategy requirements.

  • Undertake Accident/Incident investigations in line with corporate requirements.

  • Input and administer electronic systems, relevant to your role, as required by the company (such as identifying gaps, trends and providing analysis).

  • Administration Tasks (e.g. reports, meetings, investigations, appraisal, communication circulars, leaflets and notices).

  • Training Provision, Course Development and rolling out initiatives within the organisation.

  • Engaging with all levels of the organisation, with a strong emphasis on being able to engage with the site- based teams, including operatives, engineers and site-based supervisors.

  • Maintaining visible communication with principal contractors and client representatives.

  • Represent the Company at external events (meetings, seminars etc.) in a professional manner.

  • Professional qualifications in Health & Safety

  • Legislation/regulations that govern Health & Safety

  • Working knowledge of Integrated Management Systems.

  • Significant experience working in Health & Safety, preferably in the lift or construction industry

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to impact, influence, motivate and coach others

  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail with excellent written and spoken English

  • Professional and effective interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, and emotional maturity

  • Resourceful self-starter who demonstrates leadership skills and instincts, and works well independently, as well as in a team

  • Shares information and keeps stakeholders informed

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel is essential
