Associate Engineer

Mobility is the goal

Fulfill duties in an entry-level application engineering position.  Acts as an engineering contact for both customers and regional field offices. Communicates with both customer and regional field office regarding product configuration, feasibility, drawing request, and technical issues. Orders product material and supports the manufacturing of the final product. Provides support to other teams in factory as needed.


  • Act as applications engineering contact for assigned escalator and moving walk projects in the Clinton, NC facility. Will be involved with project from award through to installation.
  • Communicates with customer and regional field offices regarding product availability, feasibility of specific requirements, and any other technical questions.
  • Review customer specifications and provide feedback.
  • Assist in pricing of custom or non-standard components on escalators.
  • Works with general contractors and architects to understand on site dimensions for the product to fit in.
  • Creates layout drawings showing product details and critical dimensions. May be asked to create project specific drawings as needed to meet customer needs.
  • Complete seismic calculations to determine reaction loads of product on building.
  • Complete structural analysis of truss structures for structural stability.
  • Assist factory in manufacturing of final product. May require hands on assistance or time on the factory floor overseeing assembly of custom or job specific parts.
  • Assist field offices with technical issues during installation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Mobility needs you


Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.  One year of manufacturing is preferred.


Language Ability:

Must have good verbal and written communication skills.  Must demonstrate decision making, goal setting, problem solving, time management, analytical, project management, and organizational skills.  Daily contact required with salesmen, management staff, production associates, other engineers and customer service.  Will also have frequent contact with planning, architects and customers.


Math Ability:

Ability to learn or work with mathematical concepts or equations.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables where no standardization exists. Decision making, Goal Setting, Time Management, Analytical, Project Management, and Organizational skill required.  May participate in establishment of ISO procedures.


Computer Skills:

Must have general computer knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD is a plus.  Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).


Certificates and Licenses:

No certifications needed. 



Moderate (<25%) domestic travel is required, to headquarters location and to support projects at other SEC locations.
