Principal Embedded Software Engineer - Motion Control m/f/d (80 - 100 %)

 

We Elevate... Your Responsibilities

You play a key part in fulfilling Schindler’s aspiration to build the Next Gen Elevator Control System, a digital ecosystem powering future elevator systems and surrounding cloud-enabled applications. You help us to design, develop and maintain embedded software for elevator control systems as part of an international, globally distributed software engineering team. Main tasks include:

 

  • Specification, design, implementation, and verification of embedded software for next-generation elevator control system using modern design principles with focus on motion control
  • Work with different stakeholders and product owners to define and align technical requirements
  • Contribute to design and evolution of software architecture for next-generation elevator operating system
  • Investigate commercial and open source software and technology frameworks for their applicability and integrate them
  • Contribute to the definition of sprint plans and development roadmaps
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to software engineers in implementation of established architectures and designs
  • Maintenance, extension, and refactoring of software components
  • Investigation of defects reported by testing or customers and structured problem solving
  • Collaboration with team colleagues locally and remotely (Switzerland, Italy) for reviews and design alignments
  • Ensure software quality by close collaboration with requirements and test engineers as well as implementing automated tests

You are a self-directed and self-organized, highly responsible and reliable team player with good analytics skills and with an open mind for new
technologies. You are used to collaborate in an international, distributed environment with changing priorities. Further requirements may include:

 

  • Degree in computer science, electronics and/or software development
  • Preferrably experienced in closed loop motion control, real-time systems and embedded Linux
  • Proficient in software architecture and design
  • Object-oriented programming in C++, familiarity with C, unit testing, and scripting
  • Used to work with software development tools such as Git and JIRA
  • Knowledge of design and analysis of real-time systems and embedded Linux of advantage
  • Knowledge of development practices and principles for safety-critical software
