Logistics Facilitator

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Supervise in-bound and outbound logistics activities, including shipping, receiving and stores functions to achieve SEC objectives and insure the on-time delivery of product to customers.  Oversee the efficient and accurate handling and tracking of materials, including the direct supervision of hourly team members.  Serve as a key point of contact for Field customers to facilitate on-time shipment of orders, including prioritization and expediting of orders as needed.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Oversee and facilitate the receipt, posting, maintenance and distribution of productive and nonproductive material.  Coordinate loading of productive and nonproductive material, including vendor pickups, L.T.L., 500 orders, air shipment, UPS, and similar functions. Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Provide leadership and direction to hourly team members with emphasis on mentoring, training, and developing.  Maintain proper manning, material flow, and efficient, effective labor utilization.  Instruct and develop subordinates to readily identify and take corrective measures concerning inefficiencies in all aspects of the process.
  • Manage shipping, receiving, budgets via freight charges and cost analysis to achieve SEC objectives.
  • Responsible for adherence to all safety rules in order to accomplish safety objectives.  Ensure all team members are properly trained concerning general and department specific safety rules, including safe working habits, proper machine operation, and maintenance.  Responsible for routine housekeeping and safety inspections throughout the facility.
  • Work with the Logistics Operations Manager and other functional areas to identify, leverage and implement strategies/tactics to exceed customer expectations.
  • Responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable, in relation to this position.
  • Responsible for conducting orientation and training for team members.  Responsible for supporting the programs and policies established for the operation.  Responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures that support the following: customer satisfaction, quality, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, TPM, waste reduction, and material yield.
  • Manages team members.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the team and team members.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations’ policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing and resolving issues. Evaluates performance and implements development plans for team members.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Engineering or Business or a related field from an accredited college or university and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An in-depth knowledge of Schindler elevator systems, the ability to interpret vendor drawings and how different components will fit and work together to meet Schindler expectations. 

Excellent communications, problem resolution and team building skills.    

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret common technical/financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common

Inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to shop floor employees, top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables where no standardization exists.  Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and blueprints for materials and specifications.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency with of MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint, as well as   SAP or other enterprise software.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

No certifications needed. 

 

Travel: 

Limited (<5%) domestic travel is required, primarily to headquarters or hub locations.  Additional travel may be required
