Lead Material Handler
Your main responsibilities
PRIMARY FUNCTION / POSITION OVERVIEW:
Lead will monitor & develop employees performance to achieve and exceed departmental and company operations’ performance and goals. Responsible for: Inventory Management through use of our Cycle Counting Program, oversee shipping and receiving, oversee all stock movement activities.

Quality
- The demonstration of work duties which an employee should know and understand to produce quality, defect-free pieces, or quality mistake-free work output.
- Check teams’ quality of work and verify conformance to standards.
- Responsible for quality of personal work.
Costing
- Complete and maintain all necessary records and reports associated with receiving, stores, issuing and shipment as required.
- Indicate short or damaged goods and obtain driver’s signature where required.
Production
- Facilitates and supports teamwork in completing all tasks relating to total customer satisfaction.
- Provides guidance, counseling, and development in carrying out teams assignments.
- Prepares meeting agendas and facilitates team meetings according to the team’s agreed upon guidelines.
- Supports the resolution of internal and external customer problems and requests; escalates when appropriate.
- Assists, supports, and makes appropriate recommendations in departments efforts to achieve and maintain adequate requirements and staffing levels.
- Coordinates teams training activities to ensure adherence to procedures and protocol.
- Acts as a job-related information resource for associates and internal customers.
- Monitors efficiency of department support tools and technical equipment; escalates when appropriate.
- Manage team conflicts so that problems and complaints are resolved constructively, reporting employee issues to Manager for action.
- Delegate team tasks as needed.
- Facilitate ongoing self-evaluation of the team’s effectiveness.
- Maintains work area, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, orderly manner.
- Observes all safety and hygiene rules and regulations.
- Establishes or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Assisting with performance appraisals.
- Oversees material transfer between primary and offsite storage locations.
- Schedules and approves employee work hours.
- All other duties as assigned
Employee Engagement
- Serves as a backup for peer team leads if absent.
- Leads small teams for standard and nonstandard work.
Leadership
- Guides and assists team members.
- Provide suggestions and ideas toward continuous improvement.
- Train, mentor, and guide team.
What you bring
- Previous forklift/box truck experience; 1 year min, 3 years max
- SAP/MRP/ERP knowledge; 1 year min, 3 years max
- Inventory management experience (cycle counting and correcting inventory; 1 year min, 3 years max
- Internal candidates shall be rated a level 4 in the majority of competency categories
- Working knowledge of Excel
- Must be willing to travel between Holland and Maumee facilities
- Willilngness to work overtime
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Operator certification within 60 days
