Manager Sales & Use Tax

Mobility is the goal

  • Responsible for overall administration and coordination of the Sales and Use Tax function reporting to Tax Director
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to business units
  • Structure Transactions / review contracts
  • Monitor and track sales and use tax developments.  Interpret and implement state and local tax laws and their application to the elevator industry
  • Communicate with the appropriate Schindler personnel on application of tax laws to various projects
  • Coordinate preparation and filing of sales/use tax returns and estimated prepayments with third-party vendor.  Responsible for and oversight of the business units’ sales, use and miscellaneous tax functions in accordance with corporate policy and in compliance with all state and local tax laws and regulation.
  • Reconciliation of Sales/Use accounts
  • Audit defense of Sales/Use returns
  • Special projects
  • Keep Tax Director informed of all tax issues, potential liabilities and trends which may affect the profitability of business
 

Mobility needs you

  • Candidate must have the ability to research, interpret and apply sales and use tax laws, regulations, interpretations, court cases, etc. to various fact patterns
  • Candidate must be able to work independently and take initiative on special projects
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting.  Advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of sales and use tax experience in Elevator and/or Construction Industry required, Big 4 experience a plus.
  • The candidate must have strong accounting skills.  Also required are strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with internal managers and peers as well as State auditors and tax consultants. The candidate must be able a self-starter and have the ability to work independently
  • Strong PC skills, SAP/ERP, Tax Research software
