Project Manager

We are looking to appoint a Project Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of all projects we are working on including achieving the agreed KPI objectives on time and within budget in a safe and controlled environment. The successful candidate will plan, monitor and coordinate all technical aspects throughout each phase of our projects  sales, pre-tender, pre-construction, construction, commissioning, maintenance and service. They will achieve and maintain an excellent working relationship with our client, ensuring all aspects of the project are in line with their expectations and requirements are met. 


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure projects are progressed throughout all phases of the tender negotiation and contract delivery
  • Creating a safe working environment for all of those who come into contact with our activities and equipment
  • Achieve and maintain an excellent working partnership with the client
  • Identify, manage and exceed clients contractual project KPI’s
  • Form close working relationships with existing service management and engineering teams   
  • Targeting and delivering project engineering excellence
  • Ensure all project works are to the highest of standards, confirming future reliability of all project handovers
  • Achieve zero defects in our own work and that of our subcontractors
  • Challenging the design to minimise waste, maximise value and reduce commercial risk
  • Implementing agreed processes for the production, control and distribution of design information
  • Ensuring regular progress reporting of the design, production, installation and commissioning
  • Checking design information is thoroughly reviewed for buildability, safety and maintainability, completeness & technical suitability before use
  • Managing contract variations and contractual terms and conditions
  • Management of lift and escalator activities and documentation complying with Health & Safety legislation, company and industry safety standards
  • Leadership and vision to promote and implement safe systems of work  
  • Review the contract specification for each project and coordinate with order processing and engineering
  • Provide technical support to sales, engineering and Key Accounts Team
  • Regular attendance at meetings with clients
  • Effective communication with senior site management, designers, consultants, architects and local authorities on all matters pertaining to the project
  • Technical review & vetting of subcontract packages, materials and services
  • Inspect and review off site activities and the manufacturing process and reporting on progress
  • Management and delivery of Quality Assurance processes and compliance
  • Track progress and manage resource planning and key activities
  • All employees are required to work in accordance with established Company Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements.
  • Employees must comply with Company Health & Safety requirements and set a personal example of safe behaviour.
  • Employees will be required to contribute to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to Schindler Ltd occupational health and safety management system

Candidate Requirements:

  • Ability to manage a team and to work within a team framework
  • Ability to chair and effectively steer meetings
  • Good communication skills – articulate and a good presenter
  • Ability to swiftly appraise all types of information for completeness
  • Reasoning and problem-solving skills – with ability to think laterally
  • Thorough knowledge of design and construction processes
  • Management/Supervision, commercial, technical and installation background with ability to translate specification & construction issues into workable solutions
  • Lift Industry/product knowledge essential
  • Sales experience and Commercial knowledge with the ability to negotiate
