Service Engineer & Breakdown
We are looking to recruit a Service Engineer (and Breakdown) to be based in our Southern region. The successful candidate will be NVQ3 minimum qualified and experienced in third party equipment and also the majors preferred. Must have driving licence and ability to be self-motivated, and able to work on own. Night call in the Southern region is mandatory. The engineer will ideally reside close to NW London for logistical reasons.
Duties & Responsibilties:
- Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc).
- To rectify and reduce faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning.
- Checking the lift/escalator function as part of a maintenance regime: checks to include speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment.
- Carry out the routine inspection and adjustment in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift/escalator and complete service documentation.
- Carrying out fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information.
- Employees are required to carry out all works in accordance with the Company’s Quality Corporate policy.
- Employees are required to attend all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills.
- All employees are required to work in accordance with the Company’s Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour.
- Employees will be required to contribute to the Company safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in lift/escalator Servicing/ Maintenance/ Repairs preferred
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
- Basic Electrical and Mechanical knowledge, including Multi-Brand Equipment.
- Basic problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving License.
- Work towards Schindler Certification Level 2 Green.
