Service Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Service Engineer to be based out of our Northfleet Office and covering South West London and Guildford. Reporting to the Regional Manager the successful applicant will be responsible for carry out planned preventative maintenance as determined by the company. This will also include completion of annual safety inspections and closure of any non-conformities to meet company requirements. Improvement of equipment condition to allow for better reliability and to reduce downtime.  They will attend to breakdowns within the required timescales, carry out fault finding and rectification works as required. Work will also include minor repairs and replacement of components as necessary.  The Engineer will also participate in the company on-call rota to provide breakdown support out of hours

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine servicing of lift equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components and in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA etc).
  • To rectify and reduce faults on lift equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning.
  • Checking the lift function as part of maintenance, checks to include, speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise temperature and power supply using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment.
  • Carry out the routine inspection, adjustment, of lift installations in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift and complete service log cards and PDA.
  • Carrying out fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information.
  • All employees are required to work in accordance with established Company Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current company and UK legal requirements.
  • Employees must comply with Company Health & Safety requirements and set a personal example of safe behaviour at all times.
  • Employee must adhere to the use of a handheld device for reporting work activities and any future technology introduced to enhance real time reporting
 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Lift Servicing/ Maintenance/ Repairs
  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift maintenance
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Flexibility
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills at different levels (client/Inspectors/Managers)
  • Full UK driving License required
