Join us as a

SAIS Inspector

We are currently recruiting for a SAIS Inspector to be based out of our Coventry Office but will cover London and the South West. The SAIS Inspectors role is to inspect and test new or modernised lifts and escalators/moving walks in accordance with the Schindler Acceptance and Inspection Standard (SAIS), in order to demonstrate they are safe to be put into service, are compliant with relevant codes and are in accordance with Schindler's quality standards. This is a permanent and full time role.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspect the lift or escalator/moving walk according to SAIS requirements by performing defined tests, measuring, checking and comparing with acceptance criteria and recording and documenting results
  • Re-inspect in case of non-conformities, critical items require re-inspection by the SAIS inspector once rectified
  • Confirm if the Declaration of Conformity can be issued and the lift / escalator complies with relevant codes & standards
  • Coach the installation teams (internal, external) during inspection process
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with agreed methods & procedures.
  • To provide technical support to NI/MOD or EI as requested by the Test/Technical Manager. 
  • To assist with Retrofit actions as requested by the Test/Technical Manager.
  • To ensure, if certified to perform CPSI5 inspections, all existing installations are periodically inspected in accordance with Group requirements.
 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience within the lift and escalator industry as a qualified installation or maintenance engineer (NVQ3 or similar);
  • Previous experience working with; Commodity lifts, Escalators/Moving Walks and Custom lifts (NI/MOD)
  • Extensive product knowledge, sufficient electrical and mechanical skills to perform the required tasks, and be familiar with the use of field tools
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of safety components, safety relevant subsystems, system related safety issues/hazards, relevant codes and standards, and in accessing technical or code related documentation
