Service Technician-Dual Skilled
We are currently recruiting for a Dual Skilled Service Technician to join our Team based in Bathgate, the successful candidate will be responsible for the carrying out of planned preventative maintenance regimes as determined by the contract terms on portfolio lift/escalator equipment. Completion of Schindler safety inspections and closure of any open non-conformity to current legislation or standards. Improvement of equipment condition to improve the time between technical call-backs and reduce lift/escalator equipment downtime. Works will also include minor repair work and the lifecycle replacement of components. Adherence to all company safety and conduct procedures. Provide coverage by an ’on call’ rota for out of hours calls, maintenance and repairs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components and in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+ etc) across multi-unit sites and third-party interfaces
- To rectify and reduce faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and check to confirm correct functioning
- Checking the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance, checks to include, speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature and power supplies using approved company issued tooling and protective equipment
- Carry out the routine inspection and adjustment in accordance with approved procedures. Reinstate lift/escalator and complete service documentation
- Carrying out expert fault finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service, including third party interfaces. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information
- Carry out Site surveys
- Employees are required to carry out all works in accordance with the Company’s Quality Corporate policy
- Employees are required to attend all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills
- All employees are required to work in accordance with the Company’s Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour
- Employees will be required to contribute to the Company’s safety objectives, where necessary by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under their direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in Lift/Escalator Servicing/ Maintenance/ Repairs preferred
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator maintenance or equivalent.
- Expert Electrical and Mechanical knowledge/skills, including Multi-Brand equipment
- The ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and within efficiencies.
- Expert problem-solving skills & good technical report writing skills
- Manual dexterity - Requires the use of hands, arms and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information
- Good communication skills at different levels (Client/Service Leader/Inspectors)
- Work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
- Mentoring and carrying out training to Trained and Advance Fitters.
- Holds a full UK driving Licence
