Supplier Quality Engineer

 

Your main responsibilities

 

Objectives of the Role :

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures the quality, reliability, and performance of sheet metal components and MS/SS raw materials sourced from suppliers. The role requires strong technical knowledge of forming, stamping, welding, and fabrication processes, and is accountable for supplier development, PPAP qualifications, audits, and resolution of customer concerns and warranty issues related to supplier components.

 

Responsibilities : 

 

Achievement Measures: à Customer complaints, supplier issues

 

  • Reduction of claims reported from field
  • Plan, schedule and supervise day to day customer queries / customer complaints including all troubleshooting.
  • Liaison between customer, site team & engineering to provide faster claim response with detailed root cause findings and prompt corrective actions
  • Collaborate with CFT’s for timely warranty issues resolution, to achieve desired KPI’s
  • Communicate with vendor regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships
  • Resolve non-conformance issues with supplied materials and follow up with concerned supplier for completion of RCA and preventive actions
  • Coordinate the identification, segregation and disposition of non-conforming product found during in-process inspection. Co-ordinate the task for its internal scrap, rework, concessional items and customer returns
  • Understanding of parametric design specification & drawing reading skills
  • Plan and conduct Supplier audit, monitor outcome and initiate actions for improvement
  • Participate in Quality meeting with CFT team and resolution of top failures
  • Support to develop new parts with first time right samples
  • Attend and resolve production line issues with respect to supplier parts, escalate when necessary.

 

 

Authorities : 

  • Assess and approve suppliers and their supplies
  • Assess and approve the Corrective Actions
  • Assess and approve the new samples and PRR and PPAP

 

 

Professional skills : 

  • Expertise in stamping, forming, shearing, bending, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Understanding of MS & SS raw material standards and mechanical properties.
  • Competency in welding processes (MIG, TIG, Spot) and weld quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
  • Proficiency in APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans.
  • Knowledge of SPC, capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and quality tools.
  • Experience with field failure analysis and warranty reduction strategies.

     

 

What you bring

 

Professional experience : 

 

  • Min 8-12 years of experience within Supply Chain Quality Management in manufacturing Industry
  • Knowledge of basic Quality tools
  • Sound understanding of technical drawings
 

Standard Awareness

  • Occupational Health, Safety, environment, Quality policy awareness & Energy Management policy awareness.
  • ISO 14001,45001, 9001, 50001 standard awareness
  • Sheet metal raw material standard awareness

 

Education : Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical / Automobile) 

 

Languages : Proficiency in English, Hindi & Marathi- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

 

IT : MS office, Lotus Notes, MS Outlook, etc.

 

Key Competence Required for this job : 

  • GD &T Knowledge
  • Certified Internal /Lead auditor
