CNC Machine Operator-2nd Shift

 

Your Skills

Purpose of Position:

Programs, sets up, and operates multipurpose machines to perform any combination of operations such as automated punching and shearing to meet production schedules in accordance with predetermined standards. Generate and report OEE Weekly Results. 

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Observe all company rules and safety practices. 
  • Inspect production for conformance to specifications (first piece inspection). 
  • Operates DNC controlled shear, punch, forming machine, laser and automated warehouse.  Utilizes punches, dies, measuring tape, hand tools, digital protractor, calipers and other equipment. 
  • Select and load raw material required and initiate production. 
  • Interface with computer system for production control, program editing, preventive maintenance, and SAP. 
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as but not limited to oil and lubrication, utilizing the F&L Process. 
  • Assist in the determination of root cause of production errors and take corrective measures for prevention. 
  • Maintain and rebuild tooling, monitor tooling inventory
  • Monitor steel inventory and load steel into machine.  Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure sufficient inventory to meet production requirements. 
  • Responsible for input and output of raw material into automated warehouse. 
  • Responsible for work in process with the automated warehouse. 
  • Responsible for scrap utilization and scrap hoppers. 
  • Remove completed parts from end of line and place in carts or racks and deliver to next location. 
  • Provide input to manufacturing personnel regarding production. 
  • Provide input to maintenance regarding system operation, maintenance, and system performance. 
  • Operator is responsible for quality of finish work. 
  • Utilize Total Preventive Maintenance system (TPM) and 5S training.  
  • Maintain required record keeping. 
  • Perform other duties as instructed or necessitated by change or condition. 
  • Provide suggestions and ideas for continuous improvement of our operation (i.e. run time and machine availability). 
  • Other duties may be assigned.   
 

Your Experience

Utilize knowledge of mathematics, drawings and shop terminology. Must have demonstrated skill in operating lasers, FMS systems, CNC punching and forming equipment. Operation and function of a PC with “windows”. Must be able to function in a PC network to facilitate production control with programming group. Audit / edit programs and nesting as needed. Work from drawings and schedules and know how to use measuring instruments where required. Need to have or acquire a tow motor license. Equivalent to one to three years applied trades training in a specialized occupation (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic print reading).

Over three (3) years up to and including five (5) years.
