Associate Engineer (Mechanical - MOD)

This position will be responsible for design and application of solutions to assigned safety, performance, cost, reliability, and maintainability problems requiring the use of engineering methods and established procedures and guidelines as well as provides effective task management to accomplish specified technical objectives on time and to customer expectations.  The Sr. Engineer will lead more junior staff in planning and implementing larger scale engineering projects with a focus on customer relations and assist Engineering Management in defining new techniques to improve process flow and eliminate defects.

This role will report directly to the Manager, Mod Applications Engineering and will be located in Morristown NJ. The Engineer will need to be a highly competent individual who is an expert in elevator systems and strong customer focus.

 

Responsibilities

•Develop and apply knowledge of hydraulic and traction elevator systems
•Develop knowledge specific to SEC and 3rd party components- both standard and custom
•Comprehend and apply SEC Applications Organizational Norms(ONs) and A17.1 standards
•Develop custom material and layout drawings
•Technical analysis of mechanical design components and supporting structures
•Create material sales orders containing standard and custom components for hydraulic and traction elevators
•Support the MOD business line- feasibility, risk assessment, document revision, document management, system enhancements and testing

Knowledge

In addition to the MDC-Mechanical Engineering skillset the job holder shall

•Mentor ME associates and Engineers

•Quality assessment of associate and engineer projects

•Process reviews for efficiency

•Software(CADRE, AutoCAD, MathCAD) enhancements and programming

•Cross-functional support(field ops, sales, etc)

 

Behavioral

 

•Expert user and technical coach on estimating tools (CADRE MOD 1.0, 2.0), A17 Code and product expert to coach Associate Engineer, Engineers and the field organization on product capabilities 
•Capable of developing technical solutions and problem solving on non-standard projects to support sales force, while using well developed interpersonal skills to manage customer relationships
•Capable of problem solving to develop technical solutions for custom projects
•Effective communication and interpersonal skills to successfully manage customer relationships
•Communicates effectively with the Field Organization including Sales Representatives, Superintendents, AGMs, Project Managers, NI Sales Support, Territory MOD Managers and MOD Efficiency Managers   •Collaborates effectively with HQ Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, Ebikon Engineers, Field Support Engineers, Destination Team, Project Leads, A17 Code Committee members, Programming team and Schindler Digital Business

 

 

Mobility needs you

  • Working knowledge of design procedures and project management
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and technologies related to elevator systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional Engineer License (PE)
  • Elevator Experience/System Knowledge
  • AutoCAD, MathCAD, Creo, SolidWorks
