Senior Sales Tax Accountant


Your Skills

  • Responsible for day to day transactional activities of the Sales and Use Tax function reporting to the sales and use tax manager. Transactional activities include, but are not limited to, exemption certificates, tax certifications, account analysis and journal entries.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to business units
  • Support Structuring Transactions and reviewing contracts
  • Possess the ability to interpret and implement state and local tax laws and their application to the elevator industry
  • Communicate with the appropriate Schindler personnel on application of tax laws to various projects
  • Responsible for the compliance activities including but not limited to the coordination, preparation and filing of sales/use tax returns and estimated prepayments with third-party vendor.
  • Support the business units’ sales, use and miscellaneous tax functions in accordance with corporate policy and in compliance with all state and local tax laws and regulation.
  • Reconciliation of Sales/Use accounts
  • Reconciliation of Sales/Use accounts
  • Support Audit defense of Sales/Use returns
  • Special projects
  • Keep supervisor informed of all tax issues, potential liabilities and trends which may affect the profitability of business

Your Experience

  • Candidate must have the ability to research, interpret and apply sales and use tax laws, regulations, interpretations, court cases, etc. to various fact patterns
  • Elevator and escalator and/or construction industry experience preferred.
  • SAP systems knowledge and experience is required.
  • Candidate must have a mindset to transform existing technology and processes to the next level
  • Candidate must be able to work independently and take initiative on special projects
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Advanced degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of sales and use tax experience in Elevator and/or Construction Industry required, Big 4 or large public accounting firm experience a plus.
  • The candidate must have strong accounting skills. Also required are strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with internal managers and peers as well as State auditors and tax consultants. The candidate must be able a self-starter and be able to work independently.
  • Strong PC skills, SAP/ERP, Tax Research software
